Project Objective

The goal of HELFER is to design a tool to help the user to choose the self-defence tools that suits them best. This could help domestic Women build up a Sense Of Security that can help them found belongs which could achieve their goals and create a better environment.

 UX RESEARCH：THE VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN

A study on women in my second year of Bachelor Study, from violence, women’s social status and the wage gap.

The results of the study indicate that many women in Canada suffer from violence, including online violence, behavioral violence, and verbal violence. However, the violence against women has nothing to do with their location, their wages gap, and their social status.

Research of the Harassment

That many women are suffering from violence, which affecting their mental and physical health.

1. Most women are willing to take action to prevent harassment or anti-violence, such as using self-defence tools.

2. However, in Canada, it's illegal to carry a weapon for the purpose of self-defence, yet confusingly, there are many types of self-defence equipment and classes on the market.

3. Scientific researches show that some victims will freeze when facing danger.

4. With good self-defence or “resistance” training specifically for resisting sexual assault. Our Brains will develop effective habit behaviours to automatically call up and choose from.

(According to research, victims of sexual harassment are generally women aged 13-34.)

Process：

This thesis of mine requires a lot of research and surveys, although it seems very simple,they are all questionnaires. But in fact, I need to make a lot of presets to help users preset a variety of choices, and then select the best products according to different types of products, so as to recommend to users.

1. Classification of existing self-defense tools and courses on the market. 

2. What kind of self-defense tools are needed in different scenarios? 

3. What is the user's favorite preference when shopping: product introduction or other user reviews? 

4. how and where can the victim get help from? 

5. What is the best color theme for my targeting user and user definition? 

6. Choose the best products for customers in different categories.

Because, now is the era of smart phones, many smart phones or cars have an emergency call function for alarm. I will also tell users how to use their existing products.
